Milan, 23 May 2022 - WIIT S.p.A. *, one of the most important European cloud computing providers in the hybrid cloud and hosted private cloud market, specialising in business continuity services and mission-critical applications for enterprises, achieved strong revenue growth in the first quarter of 2022. The group's German business contributed more than half of this.
WIIT Group generated a turnover of 26.4 million euros in the first quarter of 2022. This corresponds to an increase of 48.6 % compared to the same period of the previous year. More than half of the turnover (53.6 %) was generated in Germany. In addition to the German subsidiaries, the organic growth of the parent company by nine percent and the acquisition of new customers contributed to the growth. The adjusted EBITDA is 10.1 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 40.9 % compared to the same period of the previous year. The share of the German business in the adjusted EBITDA was also more than half (51.9 %).
Alessandro Cozzi, CEO of WIIT S.p.A., says: "The results of the first quarter of 2022 illustrate the continuous growth of the WIIT group in all economic-financial indicators. Despite an extremely complex market environment, our customers have continued to invest in their digital transformation and demand for sophisticated services is increasing. In our group in Italy and in Germany, clients have found a reliable partner to work with. Germany is our reference market in Europe and already accounts for more than 50% of the Group's revenue and EBITDA. We are very satisfied with this performance and the business development in the German market. Given our business pipeline, new client business and growth in existing clients, we are very optimistic for the rest of 2022."
Christoph Herrnkind, spokesman for the WIIT Group in Germany, adds: "The figures for the first quarter show that the expansion into the German market has been a complete success for both the parent company and the German subsidiaries. Germany plays a crucial role as a key market for our 'Cloud for Europe' project and the customer response to the premium cloud approach with all relevant services from a single source is very good. We are very much looking forward to further expanding the business in Germany and thus contributing to the success of the WIIT Group."
In March 2022, WIIT officially announced its launch as an umbrella brand on the German market. Previously, the company had acquired the cloud, hosting and DevOps specialists myLoc managed IT, MIVITEC, Boreus and GECKO in Germany and integrated them into the corporate group. WIIT now employs more than 300 people at five locations (Düsseldorf, Munich, Stralsund, Rostock and Berlin) in Germany. The assets in the Federal Republic include eleven of its own data centres, which are connected to the three centres in Italy using Layer 2 technology. Two of the data centres in Milan have already been awarded the Tier IV quality level of the Uptime Institute. WIIT also wants to achieve this highest certification level for a data centre in Germany before the end of the year. With "Cloud for Europe", WIIT is pursuing the goal of becoming one of the leading cloud providers for business-critical applications in Europe and establishing its premium model for companies throughout Europe.
Another aspect that plays an important role for WIIT is the company's sustainability. According to the ESG rating by Sustainalytics, one of the most important international ESG rating agencies, WIIT is one of the 50 most sustainable companies in the software and services sector worldwide.
This year, the customer event "WIIT Lane", which was previously only held in Italy, will also take place in Germany for the first time. With the title "WIIT Germany Security Days 2022", WIIT invites its customers and partners to the Hockenheimring on 2 and 3 June to discuss current security topics and present its own solution portfolio. In addition, the visitors can expect a professional driving training in the Ferrari 488 CHALLENGE on the racetrack. WIIT will compensate the CO2 emissions of the event by planting new trees.
